China Petrochemical Corporation （Siaopec） planned to strengthen its efforts for oil and gas exploration and development in 2007 with more investment for overseas exploration and development. The second largest oil and gas producer in China produced over 40 million tons of crude oil and 7 billion cubic meters of natural gas in 2006 while its proven recoverable reserves of crude oil grew by 45 million tons in 2006 and natural gas proven recoverable reserves increased by 73.9 billion cubic meters.
