A Contrastive Analysis of Linguistic Context as a Grammaticalization Mechanism

国内外学者在探讨语法化的机制时,较少有人详细讨论语言语境的作用,英汉语的情况大体如此。在本质上,词的意义和功能总是在一定的语境之中才得到实现,实词虚化是在一定的语言使用环境中由于各种因素的相互作用而实现的,而语言环境则是其中的一种重要的因素。本文采用对比分析的方法,探讨语言语境作为语法化机制在英汉语中的异同。

There are few studies,either in English or in Chinese, on linguistic context as grammaticalization device. In essence, the meaning and function of words are always realized in a certain context and the weakening of word meaning finally happens in the process of language usage because of the co-function of many pragmatic factors, linguistic context being one of them. This is true of both Chinese and English. This paper makes a study on the linguistic context as a grammaticalization device both in English and Chinese by means of contrast.
