古诗词英译中意合向形合的转换:概念隐喻分析

Application of Ideational Metaphor in the Translation of Classical Chinese Poetry:From Parataxis to Hypotaxis

汉语重意合,英语重形合,古诗词是汉语意合的高度体现。本文以韩礼德的概念隐喻为依据,从翻译研究中意合与形合的角度来探讨古诗词英译中的一些问题。通过分析发现,概念隐喻可以解释从意合向形合转换中的一些诸如紧缩句、模糊性以及无主句的英译问题。

It is generally agreed that Chinese shows paratactic prominence and English shows hypotactic prominence. This paper is an attempt to interpret the phenomenon of parataxis and hypotaxis in the poetry translation from the perspective of Halliday＇s ideational metaphor. It is expected to solve the translation problems, such as the translation of compact sentences, fuzziness and subject-less sentences.
