摘要
近年来,西方“实用主义”的思想观念盛行于高校校园,直接导致当前外语界中普遍存在的对英语语言的重工具性轻人文精神的培养、重实用性轻素质教育之倾向,反映在教学上就是外语院系英美文学课程的日益边缘化问题。针对这一现象,笔者结合多年来在文学课程内容和教学模式方面进行的大胆探索和尝试,提出了充分发挥文学课程在提高学生的人文素养、塑造学生完整人格方面的重要作用,作为对文学边缘化问题的有力反驳。
In recent years, western pragmatism has been prevalent on the campuses of Chinese universities. Its direct result is the emergence of such a trend in foreign language study which attaches high importance to the pragmatic side of the language learning and disregards the fostering of humanistic spirit in the mind of the students. One of the most serious phenomena of this trend is the marginalization of literary courses in foreign language departments. Since literary courses play an important role in the improvement of the students' comprehensive quality and in the creation of their integral characters, the author proposes that the function of literary courses should be brought into full play as an effective countermeasure against its marginalization.
