Principles of Using English Euphemisms

文章主要从语用学的角度探讨分析了英语委婉语在交际中遵循的一些交际原则,包括距离原则、合作原则、礼貌原则和自我保护原则等。一般说来委婉语在使用过程中会不同程度的遵循这些原则以达到语义含蓄的目的。

Language communication should observe such principles as the distance principle, CP and PP, euphemism as an important form of communication also observes these principles. When people use the euphemisms, they will observe the distance principle, PP and the self-protection and violate CP to generate conversational implication. This thesis analyzes how do English euphemisms observe these principles and how do these principles govern English euphemisms.
