Huang Zunxian, one of the pioneers of modem thought enlightment and leaders of the reform campaign, was an outstanding poet at his time. Those abundant poems about traveling abroad in his collection, Renting Lu Poems, have made great achievements in a new state. Through describing scenic spots and customs in foreign countries, Huang expresses his concern of current affairs and longing for democracy, and reveals his global vision and ideas of exploration and reform in his poems, which thrive the conventional poems. In writing these poems, the poet forms a grand and graceful style by both inheriting the tradition and blazing new trails; the language is elegant and the image vivid in the description of various scenes and people.
