What is "System of Meaningfulness"? How Does it Function?

社会作为一个有机整体,需要某种意义系统来整合个体多样性的意义追求,从而增强社会的凝聚力,保证社会整体的统一性和稳定性。反过来,个体也可以通过分享群体共有的意义系统来满足主体内心实现自我价值和意义的渴望。然而,在当今社会生活中,空虚、失落、不安和孤独在一定程度上充斥着人们的心灵,这是意义系统在社会生活中的作用没有得到充分的彰显,人们在很大程度上感觉不到来自整个社会意义系统所提供的超越性的精神支撑的结果。

Society,as an organic wholeness, is supported by some system of meaningfulness to deal with variety of individuals＇ pursuit of meanings in order that the social cohesive force could be strengthened and the social integration and stability be guaranteed, while individuals could also satisfy their desires for the realization of their self-value and meaningfulness on the other way round. However, in modern society and to some extent, such feelings as spiritual void, sense of loss, uneasiness and loneliness fill people＇s heart; it is because the system of meaningfulness fails to function effectively and people,to a large degree, could not feel transcendent spiritual support coming from the system of meaningfulness of the whole society.
