With the Democrats-controlled new congress starts to function in 2007, the United States enters a new period in which the Republicans govern the White House while the Democrats control the Congress. In view of the orientation of interests of the Democratic Party and the struggles between the two parties, it is usually thought that Sino-American relations in the next two years may experience some twists and turns, but the extent of such twists and turns or the interference from the Democratsdominated congress on the mainstream of Sino-American relations is limited. At least, there are four factors that are conducive to the stability of Sino-American relations.
