This article first introduces the definition and the intemal characteristic of multimedia technology. Then the article tells us the important influence this technology has played on college English teaching： it can enrich the teaching content, arouse students＇ interest, clarify the important and difficult language points in a passage. Moreover, it may contribute to students＇ self-learning. Finally, there are also some problems we should not ignore we are applying this technology in our English teaching.
