唐玄宗即位后就确定了对后宫严密防范的政策,并没有因为纳杨玉环为贵妃而变得昏庸,他对于后宫的驾驭始终得心应手;史实表明,唐玄宗所确定的后宫政策,被其后的诸帝所继承,而这也正是唐玄宗以后诸朝基本不再出现后宫干政的一个重要原因。

Tang Xuanzong made the policies to the Rear Palace with strict precautions after his enthronement. He didn ＇ t become stupid although he got Yan Guifei as the highest-ranking imperial concubine. He controlled the rear palace very proficiently. It was testified by a lot of examples that this policy was inherited by the later emperors. It was one of the important reasons that there were no interferences to the political affairs by the rear palace during the .time of Tang Xuanzong and later.
