摘要
选择题在各级考试中的滥用对教学产生了很大的负面影响。许多学者呼吁在教学过程中应广泛使用非选择题。教学过程中大量使用非选择题的实验(N=1727),证明非选择题的广泛使用不仅可以有效提高学生在传统测试(如CET4)中的表现,还可以改变学生的学习观念和学习行为;学生对选择题的赞同程度下降,而对非选择题的广泛使用的认同度大幅度增强;他们花更多时间练习口语、朗读和熟读课文;在阅读过程中更注重归纳段落大意和中心思想。
Scholars { Kong,2004 } have called on the wide use of non-multiple-choice questions in English examinations to overcome the negative backwash effects caused by the dominant use of multiple-choice questions. Can the use of non-multiple-choice questions improve students" performances in traditional tests? Can it promote changes in students" English learning beliefs and behavior'?. The experiment reported here reveals that the answers to both questions are positive. After one year's treatment, the subjects performed significantly better in the traditional national test, which has been dominated by multiple-choice questions than the control group. Their learning beliefs and behaviors changed too. Their approval of multiple-choice ques- tions decreased considerably while that of non-multiple-choice questions increased remarkably. They spend more time practicing their oral English, reading aloud and familiarizing themselves with the textbooks . the major resource they have. They have started to try to summarize what they read instead of satisfying themselves with doing comprehensive questions provided, which used to be the only thing they did.
