摘要
玳瑁为非晶质体.主要成分为有机质,具美丽的斑纹,半透明至微透明,油脂至腊状光泽,韧性好。硬度为2.5,密度1.29~1.30g/cm3,折光率1.55.在紫外灯下较透亮的部分发微兰色荧光。遇高温颜色变暗,加热后变软,在热水中易于加工抛光.其市场行情越来越好。
Hawks-bill is an amorphous material. The tortoise consists mainly of organic materials, with beautiful mottle, semi-transparency, greasy-waxy luster and good pliability.Ithas a hardness of about 2.5 on Moh's scale, a specific gravity of 1.29-1.30g/cm3 and arefractive index of about1.55.Under the ultra-violet lamp, the brighter portions fluorescewith a bluish-white colour. When it meets high temperature, the colour of the shell tends todarkness and becomes soft in hot water. It is very easy to cut and polish. Hawks-bill plays anincreasingly noticeable role at the market.
