Discussion On the Life of YU Zhimo,the First Chairman of the Hunan Branch of Tong Meng Hui

家庭变故与社会腐败现实,造就禹之谟的反叛性格;湖湘实学精神促使禹之谟探求救国救民的途径和方法。从爱国步入政治生涯,经历改良失败而走上民主革命的道路。中国同盟会成立前后,禹之谟充当湖南民主革命运动的组织者和领导者,勇于任事,思想激进,行为坚决,引发封建统治者的忌恨而最终被捕入狱。他在狱中坚贞不屈,表现出坚定的民主革命信念和可贵的献身精神。

The change of his family and the corruption of society shaped Yu zhimo＇s rebellious personality; the traditional spirit of practice in Hunan province motivated him to seek the ways to save the nation of China and her people. Firstly as a patriot and then being a politician, he took the road to Democratic Revolution especially after experiencing the failure of political reform. Before and after the founding of Tong Meng Hui, he performed in the role of an organizer and a leader. His optimistic attitude to take responsibilities, radical political views and definite behaviours caused the jealousy and hatred of the federal authority, finally resulting in his going to jail. However, he remained unbending in there, also showing his strong faith of Democratic Revolution and precious spirit of dedication to the revolution.
