Discuss on Lao She and the Tradition of “Shi” in China

中国古代士文化有着悠久的历史,在不同历史时期呈现不同的特征。虽然到了近代,士文化已经在现代社会结构中逐渐消亡,但传统士文化所保留的精神特质依然在现代知识分子人格形成中发挥潜移默化的作用。老舍作为一名知识分子和作家,在其作品和知识分子的人格形成中,既有传统士文化所留下的深深烙印,又具有知识分子的现代意识。

The tradition of ＂Shi＂in China has long history. It presented different features in different times. Although the culture of＂Shi＂faded in the modern society,the spirit of＂Shi＂contained in traditional culture, still has the unconscious influence on the shaping of modern intellectuals. Lao She, a intellectual and a writer,was influenced by the traditional culture of＂Shi＂. At the same time he also has the modern awareness as a intellectual.
