The poetry of Du Fu was teeming with philosophical wisdom about society, life, nature and universe. In the history of Chinese poetry, He reached a width and depth which no one had come to before. Sometimes, he expressed his philosophical wisdom through comments and epigrams. But more often, he expressed it by the vivid description on nature, society and life. Such works were combinations of poetic beauty, idyllic scene and philosophical interest. His philosophical wisdom came from the background of a turbulent time, his own thought of the Confucianism which played the major role, and together with the Buddhism and the Taoism, his vagrant life and his initiative in pursuing truth. His poetry exerted a significant influence to the philosophical interest of the poems of the Song Dynasty and became the founder of the poems of the Song Dynasty with philosophical interest.
