Moby Dick is a masterpiece by Melville and narrates the struggle between the sailors onboard Pequod, a whaling ship led by Ahab the captain, and Moby Dick, a seemingly unconquerable white whale. As far as eco-criticism is concerned, it is rather an ecological allegory, expressing the author's concern over the mass killing Of animals and the serious human damage to Nature. Melville also predicted that without a reasonable respect to the environment, the human beings would be likely to suffer a disastrous result.
