1260m^3 BF in Handan Iron and Steel Co. has been revamped to 2000m^3 on its original site, three existing external combustion type hot air stoves are reused. It is very important to effectively protect silica bricks of BF from damage and hold temperature of hot air stove during the period from blowdown to restarting. The paper introduces in detailed the preconditions of temperature holding, data of energy media, main equipment and facilities, measures of temperature holding, operation practices, safety precautions and countermeasures for emergency cases.
