20世纪初,资产阶级革命派马君武、朱执信、廖仲恺等积极介绍马克思主义和社会主义学说,与立宪派的梁启超等成为宣传马克思主义的第一批中国人。他们除介绍马克思的生平、国际共产主义运动的历史、社会主义学说的源流外,还涉及了阶级斗争学说、唯物史观、剩余价值学说、《共产党宣言》提出的十大纲领等,朱执信甚至首次在中国提出了“科学社会主义”的概念。尽管他们都没有成为马克思主义者,也曾明确表示不完全赞同马克思主义,但是在传播马克思主义方面所起到的客观作用不应被否定。
