浅议经贸英语翻译中语境因素的作用

On the Role of Social Context in Business English Translation

随着我国加入W TO,经贸英语越来越显示出其重要性,因此弄清楚经贸英语的特点与翻译方法是非常必要的。本文首先就经贸英语的特点与翻译原则方面作了简单的分析,而后着重从交际语境因素方面对经贸英语翻译存在的问题进行分析。要把经贸英语翻译成规则的汉语,并能恰如其分地表达原文的意义,不仅要掌握经贸英语的翻译特点和原则,还需要熟悉经贸英语的语境,翻译时要注意交际过程中语境的两方面的作用:解释功能和筛选功能。本文就经贸英语翻译中语境因素的两方面功能作了详细地阐述。

With the entry into WTO, business English is becoming more and more important. Therefore it is necessary to grasp its characteristics and translating principles. This paper analyzes its characteristics and translating principles, and expounds the problems existing in business English translation concerning the function of social context. Besides the basic necessary skills in translating business English, one should try to know more about the social context in translation. If one wants to express exactly the original social context of business English, he should focus on the two functions of social context in communication： explaining function and selecting function. This paper illustrates how to deal with the two items of social context in translating business English.
