“以海为生”对闽台濒海地区民风民俗的影响

An Analysis of the Influence of Making a Living on the Sea on the Customs in the Coastal Areas of Fujian and Taiwan

闽台地区由于特殊的地理条件,山多田少、人多地狭,为缓解人口对耕地的压力,闽台濒海地区人民被迫向海上寻求发展,以海为生。在风险和机会同在的海上生活中,闽台人民逐渐养成了敢于冒险、勇于拼搏、进取不息的社会风尚,同时也养成了勇悍、好斗、轻生的性格以及民间普遍存在的投机取巧的赌博陋习。这些陋习给当地带来了赌博成风、械斗不断等一些社会问题。

Under the pressure of population and farming lands , the people in the coastal areas in Fujian and Taiwan had to exploit the sea for life where risks and chances coexist. By and by , the people therein formed some positive characteristics ： risk-taking, ambition and diligence, as well as some derogative personalities ： offensiveness, pugnacity, disappreciation of life and speculativeness, which caused a lot of social problems , such as prevalence of gambling , armed conflicts etc.
