摘要
英语教学作为民办高职院校提升层次和培养现代技术应用型人才的重要标志，一直受到各类民办高职院校的高度重视和学生的青睐。民办高职院校一直将英语作为学生的综合素质之一来进行培养，英语应用能力考试更是受到其领导和英语教师的重视。然而，虽经多方努力，结果却不尽人意。通过率低一直困扰着民办高职院校的每一位英语教师。必须寻找探究低通过率的对策。
Being an important mark for private vocational and technical colleges to promote their level and educate talented men for modem technique application, English teaching has been highly valued by various private vocational and technical colleges and their students. Private vocational and technical colleges have regarded English as one of the comprehensive qualities that all the students should be fostered; their leaders and English teachers have put much emphasis on Practical English Test for Colleges （PRETCO）. However, although they have wOrked hard through many ways, the results haven＇t been satisfying. Every English teacher in private vocational and technical colleges has been perplexed by the low passing rate of PRETCO. It must rearch the solutions to slove.
