Representing Lexical Semantics in the Competition Model:Animacy per se as a Cue

摘要 董燕萍、蔡振光[1]认为生命性线索不是代表词汇语义的合适线索,并提出了一条新的词汇语义线索:论元特征满足度。本文探讨是否存在代表名词生命性信息的线索。作者提出了纯生命性线索,即在句子理解中,人们倾向于把有生命名词当作句子的主语。这种倾向不受动词类型的影响。原先研究中观察到的生命性效应是纯生命性效应和论元特征满足度效应的综合体。本文作者的实验证实了这一假设。 Dong & Cai [ 1 ] argue that animacy is not an appropriate cue for lexical semantics, and they propose a new cue: argument specification satisfaction. The present study explores the possibility of a cue that represents noun animacy in sentence processing, They put forward a new cue, animacy per se to replace the ousted animacy cue, The authors of this paper argue that the animacy per se effect is that poople tend to associate animate nouns with the subject in sentence processing, regardless of the verb type of the sentence. The animacy effect observed in previous studies is a composite effect composed of the animacy per se effect and the argument specification effect. Results from the experiment conducted by the authors confirm the hypothesis.
