现代汉语流行语具有鲜明的时代特征和民族特征。作为汉英翻译体系的重要组成部分,探讨现代汉语流行语的生成源起能为其翻译提供宏观语境,从而确保其语义解析的准确性。现代汉语流行语的主要生成源起有三,其翻译应遵循直译,意译及音译的基本原则。

As an important part in Chinese- to- English translation, popular modern- Chinese sayings have strong epochal and national characteristics. Discussion on their origins can provide translators with the linguistic context in which they are used, thus to make their meanings more clear. The paper aims at an analysis of the origins of popular modern Chinese sayings and a generalization of their Chinese- to- English translation principles so as to benefit translators.
