Yuetan (the Temple of Moon), also called Xiyuetan, was the place where the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties worshiped Yeming God (the Moon) and Star Gods. Yuetan, Tiantan (the Temple of Heaven), Ditan (the Temple of Earth), and Xiannongtan (the Temple of Agricultural Gods) together are known as Wu Tan (five temples), which are the carrier of the ancient sacrifice culture of China. Combining with the advantage of the altar itself and taking the temple space as the background, the design makes the traditional "Moon culture" as the theme. The special landscape layout of the Yuetan Park is emphasized and the culture connotation of the altar is raised, which makes the Park become a prominent place to spread and promote the traditional culture and also bring its urban functions and historical value into better play in this modern city.
