Technologies for the Removal of Heavy Metal from Sewage Sludge

Various methods of heavy metal removal from sewage sludge were extensively studied in order to minimize the prospective health risks of sludge during land application. In this paper, a comparative review and critical analysis of the application of bioleaching, electroreclamation, supercritical fluid extraction and special chemical extraction in removing heavy metals from contaminated sludges were presented.
