The first industry chain at SINOPEC Hainan Refining and Chemical Company, Ltd. （HRCCL）-the 80 kt/a unit for manufacture of ethylbenzene/styrene-has been started up successfully at the first attempt to deliver qualified products, which have symbolized the extension of the petrochemical industry chain at Hainan＇s Yangpu Economic Development Zone. In order to effectively utilize the FCC dry gas resources of the refinery, HRCCL and Jiangsu Jiasheng Company have jointly funded to construct a 80 kt/a unit for manufacture of ethylbenzene/styrene from FCC dry gas. The ethylbenzene unit has adopted the technology licensed by CAS Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics and Luoyang Petrochemical Engineering Company, while the styrene unit is equipped with the technology jointly developed by the Shanghai Petrochemical Research Institute and other institutions.
