This paper introduces the principles and methods for determining the total course stress-strain curves of rock spechoens under tensile condition with direct tensile method. The total course tensilc stress-strain curves attained by this kind of method are analyzed. The deformation and strength behaviour of rock specimens under tensile condition is studied.
