摘要
自八十年代中期,首先出现在美国的甚小口径终端(VSAT)卫星通信系统,以其设备简单、小型化、高集成化、高可靠性、免维护、便于安装使用、建设速度快、价格远比传统的卫星通信系统便宜等明显特点获得迅速地发展。进入九十年代以来VSAT卫星通信系统又以人们难以想象的速度占领了发展中国家的卫星通信市场。特别是在那些幅员辽阔、地理环境复杂、通信基础设施落后的亚洲和拉美国家已投入了广泛的应用,为这些国家的经济进步创造了通信保障条件。
This paper describes the present and future development of VSAT industries and services both in China and abroad.The authors note that since the introduction of the first VSAT system in China about ten years ago.VSAT services have been expanding rapidly. By the end of 1996,more than 13,000 VSATs have been in place. In point-to-multipoint services, VSATs give a competitive edge solution against the legacy surface communications.Deregulations and open market processes also play important roles in the fast growing VSAT markets in this country The potential applications of VSAT in remote rural areas will also create a lucrative markets both in China and other devel oping countries,the paper further pointed out.The authors believe that despite tremendous price reduction due to competitive markets and production scale,China's VSAT markets will remain attractive to multi-vendors. Finally,the paper describes the possible VSAT development trends in the next Century,and the domestic VSAT industry's deep interest in joining the international markets.
