Saleem, the hero of Midnight＇ s Children, goes through the most adventurous and wondrous life, together with several transformations. Every time a spiritual transformation takes place, there must be certain kind of imago and relational context. The spiritual transformations, on one hand, justify the important role of imago and relational context during the process of metamorphosis; on the other, unfold before us the self of Saleem-taking a historic role and saving India from turbulence, which greatly enriches the image of Saleem in the novel.
