In Chapter Yao of the silk manuscript of the Yi zhuan, there is a term Wu zheng (Five Correct Principles), a peculiar term for statecraft in the ancient Yi-ology, which correlates the five measuring methods to certain trigrams, four seasons, and five directions. This mode manifests the purpose for the monarch to carry on the Wu zheng is to follow the principles of Yin and Yang, conform to the five elements, and be in harmony with the motion of the four seasons, so as to attain to an ideal political realm in which the heaven and human are propitiously related. The essential of the Wu zheng is to reveal that the statecraft should be in alignment with the Way of heaven and earth as well as the principles of Yin and Yang.
