It is one of the most important features that the present-day Chinese is rich in quantifiers. They possess the most special usages, with not only nominal quantifiers, verbal quantifiers but also various kinds of borrowed ones. They all have their own peculiarities and requirements in use when functioning as members of a sentence. When used, they differ greatly in their semantic meanings and pragmatic context. This article investigates in detail the quantifiers of the present-day Chinese from the aspects of grammar, semantic meanings and pragmatic contexts for the purpose of discovering their functional features and pragmatic value.
