摘要
委婉语是人的生活世界中普遍存在的一种语言现象。它不仅是调节、建构人际关系的一种重要手段,而且是人际关系的存在方式。文章从5个方面分析英语委婉语的语用功能,即避讳功能、避俗功能、礼貌功能、掩盖功能和幽默功能,在此基础上凸显人的相关存在方式。
Euphemism is a universal phenomenon existing in human society, used as a very important means to adjust the interpersonal relationship. This thesis analyzes the pragmatic functions of English euphemism from five aspects, namely function of indirectness, avoidance of vulgarity, politeness, concealment and humor.
