摘要
在这片全球最大也是最冷的区域上,嗅觉敏锐的投资人仿佛看到了早期美国硅谷的影子。
The last generation seem to have had it easier, in the years following WW2 a host of Cold War technologies filtered down into people's daily life and the business world. The Internet, Wireless and Satellites all became free for all after Cold War vanished as quickly as it appeared. In the new globalized economy, a spirit of cooperation is developing in maters of finance, technology, talent and consumer markets. The US and Russia still have their political differences of course, but it means little in the field of technology. The ' U.S. - Russia Technology Symposium' at Stanford University drew in over a 100 politicians, scientists, venture capitalists. IT elites and corporate leaders. Exemplified by New Siberia, some cities and regions in Russia are fast growing into high-tech hubs offering looking to attract the big names such as IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Google and Cisco. Canny investors see the makings of the next Silicon Valley in that wide and frozen Siberian landscape. They see a region having startling similarities in policy, technology, and talent to the early Silicon Valley of yesteryear. Its $40bn IT industry and $2bn Internet advertising and broadband services revenue, along with the stable relations between Russia and the US, hold promise of 'a better place' for the high-tech companies currently crammed into 'The Valley'. Below the deceptively calm surface, hidden currents are flowing towards Siberia from Europe and America alike. Sooner or later, when it becomes unmistakable, the word will spread fast-this is the new Silicon Valley.
