文章是为武汉音乐学院作曲系已故教授孟文涛《成败集续集》而写的序言。围绕着教授孟文涛的《成败集》及其续集,阐述了孟文涛教授的生平事迹和作为教师学而不厌诲人不倦的态度,以及作为学者的博古通今学贯中西的学识,以及他勇于挑战权威和现实批判精神。

The paper was written for preface to Meng Wentao＇s collected thesis works Collection of Success and Failure Ⅱ. It expatiated the all Meng Wentao＇s life, his attitude of having an insatiable desire to learn, never tired of reading, and being tireless in teaching as a teacher, his acqierement of erudite and informed as a scholar, as well as he having the courage to challenge the authorities and spirit of actuality critique.
