In a workshop held during the exhibition of 'Start off from the South-west', Senior M talked about the reason why they took the road of modern art. He said it was simply because they did not want to be suppressed by systematic art, which tells a truth. A considerable number of 'modem' artists were actually 'forced to' take this road. Since the end of 1980s', I have been totally off the track of the administrative art and free from any such circles. In 1990s', when I resided in North America, my subjects might have carried some trendy elements with a hint of 'international interpreter', but the forms I took were far from the new media, materials and forms with great popularity at that time.
