"The cultural turn" from the 1970's to 1990's in Western translation studies indicates that translation is informational communication across languages and cultures. Since the interpretation of original texts occurs in the circumstances of cultures, the translator may misread or distort idiosyncratic cultures. The misreading, coming from the cultural schema or presupposition in one's mother culture, is mainly caused by different modes of thinking, i.e. different social and ideational systems. Subjective misreading should be avoided though it may produce positive impact occasionally.
