Chromosomal passenger complex (CPC) is a group of proteins that take part in coordinating the chromosomal and cytoskeletal events of mitosis. This complex includes at least four members: Aurora B, Survivin, INCENP, Borealin. The localization, dynamics and functions of these proteins are interdependent. CPC involved in several processes of mitosis, such as assembly of a stable bipolar spindle, chromosome segregation and the completion of cytokinesis. In this review, we focused on the functions and interaction of CPC proteins, introduced the regulation of the CPC to spindle assembly checkpoint and microtubule, and discussed the prospect of the CPC proteins as targets for anticancer therapy.
