During Qing period, immigrants moved in the middle reaches of yuanjiang River in a much larger number. The reasons for the migrations are complicated, including the policy of cultivating wasteland, the reform of political structure in the region of minorities, the garrison, the development of handicraft and commerce, and so on. The migration of this period has some characteristics, which infected the social development of the region.
