This thesis narrates the acquaintanceship and intercourse between Rao Zong-yi and Ye Gong-chuo, during which, Rao Zong-yi gradually turned from a bel-esprit dedicated to parochial literature to researcher in mainstream academe. Undoubtedly, it is this invaluable experience that established highly significant basis in Rao Zong-yi＇s research afterwards in Ci, Chinese musical history, as well as the relationship between Chinese music and religion.
