Bakhtine's Theory of Context

巴赫金从社会学的角度出发探讨了语言的性质问题。他认为,对语言的理解不能脱离语境。他强调社会语境的作用。他的理论推动了对动态语境和互文性的研究。

Mikhail Bakhtine analyzed language from the perspective of sociology. Bakhtine argued that in order to have a full understanding of a text, we should take a wholistic perspective, that is, the speaker, the hearer, the context of situation and context of culture should be given due attention. He put forward the idea of dynamic context and his theory stimulated the study of intertextuality.
