Eighty years of Chinese Association for Physiological Sciences in retrospect

2006年11月,中国生理学会在北京举行了“第22次全国会员代表大会暨庆祝中国生理学会成立80周年学术大会”。在这次大会上,学会特地邀请了美国、英国、加拿大和澳大利亚四个国家生理学会的代表出席,并作学术讲座。他们讲座的题目和内容都很有新意。《生理学报》编辑部约请他们把讲座的内容整理成综述,在我刊发表,本期发表3篇,其它文章在后期陆续发表。并以此同时纪念《生理学报》创刊80周年。此外,我们还请中国生理学会上届理事长、《生理学报》主编姚泰教授将他在庆祝大会上做的关于“中国生理学会八十周年回顾”的讲话用英文撰写,在本期发表,希望国际学术同行对中国生理学会、《生理学报》和中国生理学工作者的情况能增加一些了解。

The Chinese Association for Physiological Sciences （CAPS） celebrated her 80th anniversary last November. Eighty years ago, Dr. Robert K. S. Lim, Professor of Physiology at the Peking Union Medical College, in association with Dr. Wu Xian （Professor of Biochemistry） and Dr. B. E. Read （Professor of Pharmacology）, sponsored the establishment of the Chinese Physiological Society. They held the inaugural meeting in Beijing on February 27, 1926. This event was an important landmark in the history of the development of physiological sciences in China.
