The New Curriculum of English defines English learning as ＂a comprehensive language proficienc＂, which puts its focus on not only the language knowledge and language skill, but also the importance of culture awareness and ability of cross-culture communication. This paper argues the significance of culture awareness by analyzing its importance in the aspects of the effect on leamer＇s meta-cognition and on learner＇s attitude and motivation.
