The Ming dynasty was the key stage for the development of the irrigation system in the Leizhou region as great improvements were made based on the irrigation infrastructure built during Song and Yuan. With the completion of many irrigation projects and the improvement of technology, the regional irrigation system entered into its ＂Golden Age＂ and enhanced the development of local agriculture, commerce and social economy in general.
