After Aerospace Show '96 China, Airbus Industrie announced its future product strategy update. There are 29 Airbus aircraft operated in China with 65 firm orders. Airbus will pay close attention to expansion of China market. The total firm orders of Airbus aircraft now exceed 2100 to more than 130 costomers, and it is a powerful competitor with Boeing. To make its products matchable to Boeing, Airbus will take the following measures: controlling manufacturing costs, improving the quality of products & customer services, and expanding the partnership to lower the manufacturing cost base, to obtain the resources for new product development and to improve market access. To accomplish the target for becoming the world No. 1, Airbus is exerting every effort to shorten distance from Boeing in market share.
