Power differentials between hegemonic cultures and dominated cultures are perpetuated in the postcolonial context. The inequalities between cultures thus make balanced dialogues quite an illusion. From the angle of defamiliarization, cultural hybridity, the inevitable result of the necessity of communication between different cultures, is significant to counteract cultural monopolization. Hybrid translated texts may help de-marginalize weak cultures and contribute to the formation of the new pluralistic world cultural pattern.
