The Adoption of Theatricality from Traditional Chinese Opera in Our Town

20世纪以来，中国戏剧以它独特的表现手法影响了西方戏剧界，像桑顿·怀尔德这样的西方艺术家们纷纷从中国戏曲中找到了他们需要的元素。传统的中国戏剧在剧场性方面具有开放性和虚拟性的特征，开放性指注重当场效果，增进观演关系；虚拟性指舞台上没有景物造型，演员用虚拟动作调动观众想象。本文拟从怀尔德戏剧创作的最高成就《小城风光》入手，来探讨其在剧场性上对中国戏曲的选择。

This thesis mainly deals with the adoption of theatricality from traditional Chinese Opera in Thornton Wilder＇ s masterpiece Our Town. Since the 20th Century, traditional Chinese Opera has influenced the western theatrical circles with its unique performance characteristic. Western playwrights find the artistic elements they need in traditional Chinese Opera, and Thornton Wilder is one of them. Traditional Chinese Opera has the characteristics of openness and fictitiousness, with the former aiming at the improvement of relations between the actors and the audience, and the latter implying the actors use imaginative movement to arouse the imagination of the audience.
