《文选·与嵇茂齐书》考

A Textual Research of The Letter from Zhao Jingzhen to Ji Maoqi in the Elected Essays

对《与嵇茂齐书》的作者,唐时已聚讼纷纭,房玄龄、李周翰、《文选钞》、陆善经等人,各以《嵇绍集》、干宝《晋纪》为据进行考辩、论争;然而,都未能定论,仍致疑千载。本文即据各种史料,重新排查、考辨。论者以嵇绍"懼祸"而"移书于景真",实不足据,它没能考虑嵇绍刚直、不屈的个性。赵至以"士息"的眼光看待已是太子舍人的嵇蕃,言辞间夸饰、流溢钦慕之情,实属正常。吕安不会有这类言辞。这些都能帮助我们辨明作者的真实情况。综合而论,作者当为赵至。

There was a dispute in Tang Dynasty about the question of who was the writer of The Letter fo Ji Maoqi. Scholars such as Fang Xuanling, Li Zhouhan, Wen Xuanchao and Lu Shanjing tried to answer the question with their works but did not reach an agreement. This paper, on the basis of various documents, attempts to make a textual research of the question in a new and different way. The paper holds that the view that Jishao had corrected the author of the letter because of fear has no foundation because the view did not take into consideration Jishao＇s personality of rightness and tenacity. It is natural for Zhao Zhi to treat Ji Shao with admiration and exaggeration because Ji Shao was already the prince then. Lv An would not have such verbalism as that of Zhao Zhi. All these facts can help us to recognize the identity of the author. The paper comes to the conclusion that it was Zhao Zhi who wrote the letter.
