早期山水诗萌芽于曹魏时代,在晋代逐渐发展和成熟,开启南朝一代新的诗歌风貌,标志着人与自然的进一步沟通与和谐,一种新的自然审美观念和审美趣味的产生。在一定程度上可以说玄言诗孕育了山水诗。玄学使山水具有清越之气,老庄思想使人们向往自然。随着情理的消长,山水逐渐与情感相结合,逐渐完成了对玄理的清洗,并且随着玄佛的融合,使山水诗具有了境界之美,并朝着世俗化和抒情性的方向发展,逐渐使山水诗成为百花园中的一朵奇葩。
