MathCAD is the special software for scientific calculations. Apparently, it is a powerful tool for the calculation of ideal plate number in distillation tower. Combining the function of this software and the experience in practice, the author has developed the plate-by-plate calculation method with MathCAD2001. The characteristic of his method is easy to understand and easy to use. It makes the comparison of different operation parameters become more convenient. It also allows the visual output for distillation calculation curves.
