摘要
晚清翻译小说中出现的比较典型的人物形象具有浓厚的本土化特征,与此前对西方人形象的陌生化描写和魔鬼化处理截然不同,晚清翻译小说中的人物形象得到了积极的本土化描述和言说。在这种人物形象套话的变迁背后,隐含的是中国人对世界认知的变化,是中西权力对比关系的变化。
Foreigners enjoyed a positive description in Late Qing fiction translations. Images of main characters wherein underwent a cultural domestication, with features and temperament popular in traditional Chinese fictions. Considering the hideous stereotype of ＂foreign devils＂ ever present in Chinese literature before 1890s, to translate the foreign devils＇fictions into Chinese marks a revolutionary change in Chinese people＇s attitude towards foreigners.
